“One can only speak about singing as an art where the voice as the means of artistic expression – beyond its purely acoustic significance… – has been purified in its tone and dynamics (in other words in the nature and expressive quality of its timbre) into the true and humble mirror of the heart’s feelings.” –   Lajos Szamosi

“How to have strength in my voice without straining;
To speak loudly instead of shouting;
To give my voice passion – instead of just enthusing;
And, in addition to making sense of a passage, to show feeling instead
of sentimentality…I have Lajos Szamosi to thank for all this.”
– Oszkár Ascher (renowned Hungarian performer; actor, and story and poetry reciter)

“If I had to summarize the essence of this unique life in one sentence, it would be this:  An endless effort until his death to help his students return to the cosmic harmony, to the unbreakable unity of body, soul, and mind.  That is why one of his Japanese students called him the Zen master of music. “ Peter Popper
